2017 Southern Textile Research Conference

The 2017 STRC will be held at the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort, which is the same location that was used for the 2016 conference. The theme for the 2017 STRC will be, “Value Added Textiles for Fashion and Function”. The STRC Planning Committee is recruiting speakers for the conference, so if someone wants to suggest a speaker, please feel free to do so.

Our theme for the 2017 STRC will be, “Value Added Textiles for Fashion and Function”. We are proud to announce that we now have several speakers for the program. The Keynote Speaker will be Dr. David Hinks from NC State University. Dr. Hinks will give an overview of the College of Textiles and will discuss some of their major projects. Troy Massey from Pulcra Chemical will make a presentation on “Active Textiles and Encapsulated Finishing Chemicals”. Cotton Incorporated will provide a speaker from their Consumer Marketing group to discuss consumer perspectives and preferences for functional finishes. Dr. Tushar Ghosh from NC State University will make a presentation on Smart Textiles. We are close to finalizing the entire program for the 2017 STRC.

Please note that dinner will not be included for Monday, September 18. This decision was made for two reasons. First, it allowed us to reduce the conference registration by $50 to $450 per attendee. Secondly, the decision was based on feedback from the surveys that were taken during the 2016 STRC. However, although dinner will be ““on your own” for those wishing to do so, the STRC will help to arrange a group dinner at a local restaurant for those wishing to dine together.

Please mark your calendars now for the 2017 STRC! Further notices will be posted when speakers are recruited and the agenda is finalized.
